This self-guided kayak rental starts at a Kailua storefront, where staff strap the kayak to your vehicle and walk you through a personal kayaking lesson, safety demonstration, and route details. From there, you drive to Kualoa Regional Park to launch your kayak and paddle out to Mokoli'i, the island also known as Chinaman's Hat. The water around the island is clear and shallow, and a protective reef keeps waves minimal at the launch point.
Everything needed on the water is included: kayaks, paddles, life vests, dry bags, a route map, and snorkeling gear.
Active Oahu Tours suggests this rental for people who are experienced in kayaking or are comfortable kayaking in the ocean.
