Discovery SCUBA Dive

Discovery SCUBA Dive is an introductory dive experience for beginners who want to try scuba without committing to a full certification course. The tour begins at Ala Wai Small Boat Harbor, where participants go through a brief orientation covering basic dive skills and safety guidelines. A certified PADI instructor then leads a shallow water dive along coral reefs, where divers may encounter tropical fish, eels, octopus, and reef sharks.

Basic swimming ability is required, and the difficulty level is rated easy, making this a reasonable option for most first-timers who are comfortable in the water. No food or drinks are provided, so plan accordingly before arriving.

A few things to know before booking: personal camera equipment, including hands-free devices like GoPros, is not permitted during the dive under PADI standards. A video add-on is available if a recorded dive experience is wanted. This program follows the PADI Discover Scuba Diving format, which does not result in scuba certification, though the experience can count as credit toward a PADI Open Water Diver certification if that becomes a future goal.
