Na Opio Kai Programs

About This Experience

Here in Ewa Beach, the Na Opio Kai Programs give keiki ages 8-13 an authentic taste of Hawaii's waterman culture. Your kids will dive into comprehensive ocean sports training at the stunning Wai Kai Lagoon facility, where both local children and visitors learn everything from surfing fundamentals to Hawaiian cultural traditions.

The magic happens across four core water activities. Kids catch their first waves—or polish their technique—on the Wai Kai Wave, then master stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking while building balance and coordination. Our Learn to Sail lessons let them gain confidence on the protected lagoon waters, perfect for beginners. But it's not all water time. The dry-land sessions cover essential water safety protocols, weather awareness, and proper waterman etiquette, plus cultural education that helps keiki understand the ocean's deep significance in Hawaiian tradition.

What really sets these Na Opio Kai Programs apart is how they develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. As kids adapt to different aquatic situations and make quick decisions on the water, they're growing in ways that extend far beyond surfing. With a maximum of 20 children per age group, the group dynamics naturally foster leadership and communication as keiki support each other through new challenges.

Each full-day session runs 6 hours, from 7:30-8:00am drop-off to 2:00pm pickup at the roundabout near Surfside Lawn. The program operates during specific weeks from March through October 2026, plus individual daily drop-in opportunities during holidays and school breaks. Everything's included—activities, cultural education, and lunch. Just bring a towel, reef-safe sunscreen, and refillable water bottle.

Starting from $99 for daily drop-in sessions or $499 for the complete 5-day program, the Na Opio Kai Programs in Ewa Beach offer young ocean lovers a genuine Hawaiian waterman education that builds both practical skills and cultural appreciation.
