SUP Open Group Lesson
The lesson meets at Anahulu Stream in Haleiwa, where participants learn stand-up paddleboarding from a qualified, lifeguard-certified instructor. The session begins on land with instruction on proper equipment use, paddling technique and turning, then moves onto the water to put those skills into practice. A board and paddle are provided, so no separate equipment rental is needed before arriving. The open group format welcomes anyone who wants to try the sport, and the shared experience means participants learn alongside others who are also new to paddleboarding. Wear or bring a swimsuit and pack sunscreen. The lesson runs rain or shine, so light overcast or drizzle will not cancel the session. Plan to arrive at Anahulu Stream rather than at a beach or harbor parking area. The instructor, board and paddle are all included, so the main preparation is simply showing up ready to get on the water.
