We kick things off with 30 minutes on the beach, covering everything you need to know before hitting the water. Our instructors break down ocean safety, wave reading, proper paddling technique, and that all-important pop-up move. No rush, no pressure—just solid fundamentals that'll serve you well once you're out there.
The real magic happens during your 1.5-hour water session. Waikīkī's forgiving waves create the perfect classroom as your instructor stays right beside you, helping position you for waves and cheering you on. With only 3 people per group, you get the personal attention that makes all the difference. There's nothing quite like that first successful ride on an authentic Hawaiian wave.
This surf lesson in Waikīkī Honolulu welcomes anyone 8 and older—no experience necessary, just bring your sense of adventure. We provide everything: soft-top beginner boards, rash guards, and expert instruction. You'll need to be comfortable swimming on your own, though life jackets are available if you'd like extra peace of mind.
Lessons start from $125 and meet at Moku Surf Shop on Koa Avenue. Show up 15 minutes early to get checked in and meet your instructor. We ask for 24 hours notice on cancellations for full refunds, and we only head out when ocean conditions are safe and ideal for learning.
