About this experience
The lesson begins on the beach with a safety briefing that covers surf conditions and how to stay safe, followed by instruction on popping up to standing, finding balance, and getting into the correct stance. After the beach portion, both participants head into the water to take turns catching small waves, with a CPR-certified instructor providing ongoing guidance and feedback throughout.
The meeting point is on the north shore of Oahu, at either Puaena Point Beach Park or Chuns Reef Beach, chosen based on surf conditions. The specific location is confirmed before the lesson. Surfboards and rash guards are provided. Bring a swimsuit, towel, reef-safe sunscreen, and water. Reef shoes are optional but can be helpful for beginners. A life jacket is available on request if arranged in advance.
