Shark Cage Diving

This tour by Hawaii Shark Encounters departs from the North Shore of Oahu and heads into the open ocean to observe Galapagos and Sandbar sharks in their natural environment. A floating cage keeps guests and sharks safely apart. Large poly glass windows built into the cage let guests peer into the open water and watch the sharks at close range. No scuba experience is needed. Guests enter the cage from above and stay at the surface using a mask and snorkel, so basic swimming ability is enough.

Education is a central part of the experience. Guests receive information on shark biology, behavior, ocean conservation, and the role sharks hold in Hawaiian culture and mythology, where they are regarded as a revered part of history and belief. Guests can also contribute to ongoing shark research and carry a conservation role beyond the tour itself.
