Standup Paddleboard Lessons from Ty Gurney Surf School take place on the water in Waikiki, starting at the school's shop on Lewers Street. Arrive early to get checked in, collect your gear, and go through a short land demo and safety briefing before heading out. Once on the water, an instructor guides participants through paddling technique, stance, balance, and ocean awareness.
The lesson suits a wide range of ages and abilities, and children are welcome. A stand-up paddle board and paddle, along with a long-sleeve rash guard, are provided. Wetsuits can be rented separately, and souvenir photos and videos are available to purchase after the session.
Come wearing swimwear and sunscreen, and bring a towel. Participants must be able to swim. The lesson is not recommended for pregnant travelers or those with back problems. Arrive ahead of your scheduled start time to complete check-in smoothly and make the most of the time on the water.
