About this experience

The Hawaii AIDA Freedive Beginner and Certification course (4.8 stars, 1919 Google reviews) is your gateway to exploring the underwater world using nothing but the power of your breath.

Waikiki Dive Center's certified instructors guide you through this comprehensive AIDA Freediver Certification Course, teaching you to dive deeper, stay longer, and move with the grace of a local waterman. The program (average duration 3.5 hours) seamlessly blends classroom theory with hands-on practice in both confined and open waters.

You'll master the fundamentals that separate true freedivers from casual swimmers: breath-hold physiology and safety protocols, proper breathing and relaxation techniques, equalization methods for depth, plus efficient finning and body positioning. The curriculum covers static and dynamic apnea, open-water freediving techniques, buddy procedures and rescue skills, along with mental focus and stress control.

Training follows a smart progression-Day 1 focuses on confined water skills for AIDA 2 Certification, while Day 2 takes you into open water for both AIDA 1+2 Certification levels. AIDA 3 Advanced Freediver certification and beyond are also available. Currently running Mondays and Tuesdays, this Hawaii AIDA freedive beginner and certification Honolulu program welcomes everyone from complete beginners to advanced practitioners, plus snorkelers, ocean enthusiasts, spearfishers, and underwater photographers.

What sets this apart is the intimate instruction-maximum 3 participants means personalized coaching every step of the way. Our bilingual instructors teach in both English and Mandarin Chinese, ensuring clear communication throughout.

Requirements are straightforward: ages 18+ (16-17 with parental consent), ability to swim 100 meters non-stop, and basic English or Mandarin. Everything's included-boating for open water training, AIDA certificate application fee, training fins and mask, plus wetsuits upon request.

Classes meet at 424 Nahua Street, with 6:30am check-in for confined water and 9:30am for open water sessions. Free rescheduling or cancellation must be 48 hours in advance. Starting from $215 per person, this Hawaii AIDA freedive beginner and certification course offers genuine self-discovery through structured, professional training.
