About this experience
This sailing tour from Hawaii Nautical departs from Kewalo Basin Harbor, near Waikiki and Ala Moana, and follows the Waikiki coastline in search of humpback whales. The season runs from December through March, when humpback whales come to Hawaiian waters to breed and calve. Morning and afternoon departures are available, with the morning sail running longer than the afternoon one. On Saturday morning sailings, bagels and iced coffee from Big Time Bagels and Tradition Coffee Roasters are included.
The catamaran has both shaded and open-air seating, restrooms on board, and a full bar serving tropical cocktails, beer, wine, soda, and juice. Light snacks are also served. Crew members share narration about whale behavior and Hawaii's marine life during the sail. If no whales are spotted, the operator invites guests back on another whale watch trip at no charge.
Arrive early to allow time for paid parking at the harbor and check-in at the slip. Bring reef-safe sunscreen in non-spray form, a hat, sunglasses, and a camera. The tour is weather dependent, so conditions may affect sailing.
