About this experience
The lesson takes place on the North Shore of Oahu, and travelers meet at the location rather than receiving hotel pickup.
The instructor is a licensed local waterman with Red Cross CPR and AED lifeguarding credentials and extensive ocean knowledge. The lesson covers surfing fundamentals along with ocean safety, and the goal is to have every student standing up and riding waves by the end. Because the session is fully in the water, basic swimming ability is required, and pregnant travelers should not participate.
The experience is weather dependent, so conditions may affect scheduling. Travelers should bring swimwear, sunscreen and a towel. The physical effort is moderate, so arriving reasonably rested helps. No restrooms are available on the water, so plan accordingly before heading in.
