About this experience
The lesson starts at the Ohana Surf Center inside the Waikiki Beach Marriott Hotel, where participants check in and get outfitted with a bodyboard, fins, a long-sleeve rashguard, and reef shoes. A shuttle then carries the group to the beach location where the instruction takes place, and another shuttle brings everyone back to the shop afterward.
Instruction is tailored to the individual. Beginners learn bodyboarding etiquette, water safety, body positioning, paddling, and how to catch waves. Intermediate participants work on fundamentals or more challenging maneuvers. Advanced riders focus on refining technique, correcting habits, and developing competitive strategies. Every student also receives guidance on reading the ocean environment and connecting with the water.
Bring swimwear, a towel, sunscreen, and a change of clothes. Wetsuits are available to rent separately. The shop provides a secure place to store belongings during the lesson. Transportation is included between the shop and designated Waikiki pickup spots. Souvenir footage of the session is available to purchase at the shop after returning from the water.
