About this experience
Phase III of Hawaii Dive Center's Open Water Certification is where the paperwork stops and the actual ocean starts - and for anyone serious about wanting to become a certified scuba diver in Honolulu, this is the checkout you've been building toward.
The format is two days, two dives each day, four open water dives total. You'll get comfortable at first to a maximum depth of 40 feet, progressing to dives reaching a maximum depth of 60 feet, translating classroom skills into real Hawaiian conditions. Nail all four dives, demonstrate your skills, and you are ready to receive your certification card - a genuine milestone, not just a participation trophy.
Because it runs Monday through Sunday, the scheduling fits cleanly around a longer Oahu trip rather than forcing you to rearrange anything. Honolulu is the meeting point, keeping you right on the island and close to what you've come to explore. If you're already down here for a week, adding a legitimate certification to the agenda is a worthwhile move.
A few things worth knowing before you commit: no-shows are charged the full price and all sales are final. If you need to cancel because of extenuating circumstances or weather, Hawaii Dive Center issues a rain-check credit within 48 hours of notice - weather calls happen the day of the dive. Any intentional damage to rental equipment is billed at current fair market value.
Becoming a certified scuba diver in Honolulu is a meaningful step for anyone who's been putting it off. Hawaii Dive Center gives you a structured way to finally cross it off the list.
