Magic Island Lagoon

Magic Island Lagoon is the shallow lagoon on Magic Island, also called ʻĀina Moana, a man-made peninsula with large seawalls at the east end of Ala Moana Beach Park in Honolulu. Lifeguards are on duty at the lagoon every day, from a City tower on Magic Island. There are showers by the comfort station at the entrance to the peninsula, a parking lot of its own, and picnic tables under shady trees. The City closes Ala Moana Regional Park overnight. The lagoon is on the south shore, where waves are usually flat to small in winter and larger swells can arrive in summer. The City warns that box jellyfish regularly swarm to south shore waters some days after the full moon, so stay out where they are sighted and observe any posted signs. If a sea turtle or monk seal comes by, give it plenty of room, and never touch, chase or feed it.
