Twin Islands Guided Kayak Tour

Kailua Beach Adventures runs this guided kayak tour out to the Mokulua Islands, following a route that takes paddlers past Lanikai before reaching the islands. Once there, the itinerary includes a stop at Queen's Bath, time to snorkel or kayak surf, and lunch before the return paddle. A certified guide leads the group throughout, helping locate good snorkel reefs and salt pools, and helping protect Hawaiian Monk Seals that frequent the area. The shop stocks retail gear and offers a discount for any last-minute items. Optional round-trip transportation from Waikiki is available for select departures. All paddlers should be physically fit and able to swim. Participants check in at Kailua Beach Adventures ahead of the departure for a briefing before kayaks are carted to the beach.

2-Hour Guided Kayak + Beach Time

This guided kayaking tour launches from Kailua Beach Adventures' shop on Kailua Road, where participants check in, meet their guide, and wheel kayaks down to the water. The paddle takes the group through sea turtle feeding grounds out to Popoi'a Island, a coral reef sanctuary and seabird sanctuary. Once on the island, a guided walk covers nesting seabirds, native plants, geological features, and local history. After paddling back, showers and changing rooms are available at the shop. The tour suits beginners as well as experienced paddlers, and children are welcome. All kayaking gear is provided, including life jackets, paddles, drybags, and island landing permits. Lunch is included and comes with fresh sandwich, pizza, or local options, with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free choices available. Before or after the guided portion, participants can use snorkeling gear, boogie boards, bicycles, beach chairs, and beach mats from the shop at no extra cost. A secure locker and free beach parking are also included. Gratuity is not included. Hotel pickup from Waikiki is available for an added fee.

Self-Guided Kayaking Discovery

This self-guided kayaking experience sets off from Kailua Beach Adventures on Kailua Road and lets paddlers explore Kailua Bay at their own pace. Before heading out, staff provide a video briefing covering the bay, the kayaking route, and current weather conditions. From there, paddlers can visit offshore islands, sanctuaries, and beaches, find a spot for lunch, snorkel over coral heads, and spend time boogie-boarding in the shore break at the north end of the beach. A DLNR offshore islet landing permit is included with each kayak, so stopping on the islands is covered. The tour works for beginner and experienced paddlers alike, as the bay is reef-protected. Every rental includes a Coast Guard-approved life jacket, a Comfort Pro kayak seat, a dry bag, snorkel gear, a boogie board, and secure lockers for storing belongings. Solo paddlers and pairs can each choose a kayak to fit their group. All participants must be able to swim, and younger children must share a kayak with a parent or guardian.

Kailua Beach Experience

Kailua Beach Experience is a self-directed beach day run by Kailua Beach Adventures at Kailua Beach Park on Oahu. Guests can snorkel, boogie board, or simply relax on the sand at their own pace. The north end of the beach is the spot for boogie boarding, where shore break creates a rideable wave, while the east end of Kailua Bay offers calmer water suited to snorkeling. All equipment is included, covering a boogie board, mask, snorkel, fins, and a beach mat. Lunch is provided, and beach showers are available so guests can clean up before heading back out. Free parking and complimentary lockers are part of the package as well. Guests should wear or bring a swimsuit, and comfortable walking shoes are a good idea since some snorkel spots require a walk from the main area. A towel, sunscreen, and a refillable water bottle are worth packing. All participants who plan to enter the water must be able to swim.

Rentals

Kailua Beach Adventures rents kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, bikes, snorkel sets, boogie boards, and surfboards from its shop in Kailua on Oahu. The shop is within walking distance of Kailua Beach, and the company holds permits that allow renters to land on Kailua's offshore islands, which most rental operators cannot offer. Rentals are available by the hour, half day, or full day, giving travelers flexibility to plan around their schedule. When picking up gear, renters can use free carts to carry equipment on foot to the beach, or free racks to transport it on a vehicle. Both options are provided at no extra cost. Because conditions on the water can change, this rental program is weather dependent, so it is worth checking in with the shop if the forecast looks uncertain before heading out. Meeting and pickup take place at the Kailua Beach Adventures shop.

Day Pass!

The Day Pass! from Kailua Beach Adventures gives all-day access to the shop's beach facilities and equipment, along with free parking, so visitors can spend the day at Kailua Beach or Lanikai Beach without competing for a parking spot. Check-in is available from the morning through early afternoon, and guests may stay through the late afternoon. The pass covers snorkel gear, boogie boards, bikes, beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers, pool floats, life jackets, wagons, lockers, outdoor showers, changing rooms, and restrooms, plus a discount at the retail store. Kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, surfboards, towels, and lunch are available as paid upgrades. Hotel pickup and guided tours can also be added but must be arranged in advance. The pass suits families and groups who want a flexible, relaxed beach day with gear already on hand. Physical effort is entirely up to each visitor. All participants using water sports equipment need basic swimming ability, and life jackets are available for those who meet the minimum weight requirement. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Kailua Beach Adventures picks guests up from Waikiki-area hotels in the morning and brings them to the company's shop near Kailua Beach. After checking in and receiving an orientation, guests head to the beach to snorkel, bodyboard, or simply relax in the shade. Lunch is included and covers choices such as Boston-style pizza, calzone, a hamburger, a salad, or a plate lunch, each served with a drink. This tour lets each participant choose one add-on option from a set that includes a shopping shuttle to Kailua town, a bicycle rental, a pancake lunch order from a local restaurant, or a float. Options are selected at the shop on arrival, and the group can split across different choices. The shop carries swimwear, rash guards, sandals, and other beach gear, available to tour participants at a discount, excluding sale items. Guests should arrive wearing a swimsuit and bring a change of dry clothes, footwear that handles water easily, sun protection, and a camera. A locker is available for valuables. The return shuttle heads back to Waikiki in the afternoon.
