Coral Reef Dives
Coral Reef Dives takes guests out from Ala Wai Harbor to visit two coral reef sites off Waikiki. Following that dive, the boat moves to the second site with a surface interval in between. Once both dives are complete, the boat returns to the harbor. All required scuba equipment, a wetsuit, boat fees, and a private instructor as a dive guide are included. Gratuities for the guide and captain, anti-nausea medication, and a dive computer are not included. Optional add-ons such as enriched air and a GoPro package are available. Marine life that may be encountered includes Hawaiian green sea turtles, moray eels, octopus, nudibranchs, monk seals, spinner dolphins, hawksbill sea turtles, and humuhumunukunukuapua'a. Shipwreck and Reef Dives
After check-in, a short boat ride brings divers to a shipwreck that has become an artificial reef, home to moray eels, parrotfish, triggerfish, and reef sharks. A surface interval follows, then the group moves to a coral reef to continue exploring. A private instructor and guide stays with divers throughout both dives, and all scuba equipment, including a wetsuit, is provided. A dive computer, anti-nausea medication, and gratuities are not included. Those who are pregnant or have asthma or a history of seizures should consult a physician before booking, as scuba diving is generally not advised in those cases. Discover Scuba Dive
Participants board from there and head out for an underwater experience led by a private scuba instructor. All required equipment is provided and ready at the boat, including a wetsuit, mask, snorkel, fins, and full scuba gear. Gear is matched to each participant's height, weight, and shoe size for a proper fit. E-learning is also included to help prepare participants before they get in the water. A few things to know before arriving: plan to show up early to allow time for parking and check-in, because the boat leaves on schedule. Paid parking is available at the harbor. A health questionnaire will be sent by email ahead of the tour and should be reviewed in advance. Anyone who answers yes to a question on the day of the dive will need a doctor's medical clearance to participate. Gratuities for the instructor are appreciated but never required.
Navigation
Navigation is a certification course run by Discover Scuba Hawaii that teaches divers how to find their way underwater. The course covers compass use, estimating distances, and reading natural clues such as bottom contours and sunlight to orient beneath the surface. These skills help divers explore unfamiliar dive sites and return safely to their entry point. Gratuities for the crew, a towel, a change of clothes, and swimwear are not included and should be arranged separately. Before booking, note that this course is weather dependent, so conditions on the day can affect whether it runs. Participants will receive a health questionnaire by email in advance and should review it before the day. Anyone who answers yes to a health question on the day of the course will need medical clearance from a doctor to participate. Swimwear is not provided, so plan to bring appropriate attire.
Wreck Diver
The Wreck Diver certification course from Discover Scuba Hawaii teaches the skills needed to safely explore shipwrecks and submerged structures. The course covers wreck history, site assessment, specialized equipment use, and safe penetration techniques, with attention to the cultural significance of these sites. Participants meet at the Ala Moana area in Honolulu and complete E-Learning as part of the program. This course is rated difficult and suits confident swimmers who are comfortable in the water. Required dive equipment is provided, along with snacks and professional instruction. A reel and surface marker buoy are available for purchase separately if needed. Bring a towel, any personal medications, and a reusable water bottle. Because this activity is weather dependent, conditions on the day may affect whether it runs.
