Surfing

Most of the listings here are lessons: group, semi-private and private, for beginners through advanced surfers, plus kids and family lessons. They run in Waikiki, Honolulu, Kailua and on the North Shore, and a few shops also rent boards.

North Shore surf can get big, especially in winter, and is for experienced surfers when it does. Wear reef-safe sunscreen or a rash guard, and check each listing for the lesson length, group size, board and gear provided, and the meeting point.
